The writer E.M. Forster wrote "only connect" in his 1910 novel, Howards End. These words appear multiple times throughout the novel as a cry to society to empathise and connect with those around you, especially in times of adversity. They couldn’t be more relevant today.
We are hugely grateful to the people on the frontline of this pandemic – the NHS workers risking their lives every day to care for the sick, the people keeping food available on our shelves, the teachers and social workers who are still working tirelessly to care for those in need. The coronavirus outbreak is a global crisis, and very few people in the world will be unaffected.
At Rupert Sanderson, my number one priority is to keep my team safe, both in the UK and in Italy, where our factory is located. Our boutiques have temporarily closed and our head office team have been working from home since last week. In Italy, the factory remains closed and the team are in lockdown in their homes. We meanwhile are working to make sure that their livelihoods are safe when things return to normal.
In line with UK government advice, our online shop remains open. Orders will be fulfilled once a week, so please note that delivery times will take a little longer than usual.
While we are all separated from each other in lockdown, many from their closest loved ones, the digital world is a wonderful tool to connect us all. Rupert Sanderson Shoes has a tightknit community on our social channels, and we invite you to connect with us as much as possible. While shoes don’t save lives, we hope to inject a little light relief into your isolation.
We are delighted to launch our Journal, a project that has been in the works for a while. Drop in to discover the inspiration behind a particular shoe, or see who has been wearing RS on the red carpet recently.
Finally, if you do wish to add to your shoe collection, we will be offering 30% off selected styles in our SS20 collection until 12th April.
Thank you for your support, keep safe, and "only connect".
