A Q&A with our #RSDesignChallenge winner Annie
We are thrilled to have received so many wonderful entries via both email and Instagram, and hope that our challenge kept you cheerful and entertained during this strange and difficult time.
Following the difficult task of making a shortlist, Rupert came to the decision that there would be two lucky winners whose dream shoes will be made reality.
We are delighted to share our winners with you: our second winner is Annie, who created a mod-inspired flat shoe design. She has shared some thoughts and the inspiration behind her dream shoe with us. Follow @AnnieNaran.
Where in the world are you based?
I am from Toronto, Canada.
What do you do?
I am a fashion artist who recently quit my day job in fashion retail to pursue my passion for design and art. My experience in retail is something I cherish because it gave me insight into various trends and consumer demand, which is something I always reflect on and incorporate throughout my art.
What was the inspiration behind your dream shoe?
The inspiration behind my dream shoe is a combination of minimalism, the MOD era of the 1960s, and the geometric shapes and motifs of space age fashion.
You may know that all Rupert Sanderson shoes are named after Daffodils. Have you named your shoe?
Yes! I have named my shoe after the daffodil “Intrigue”. Initially, the daffodils are a soft yellow, and as they mature they become luminous white and as a result attract a lot of attention. They are also viewed as peaceful and feminine - characteristics shared with the shoe design.
Where will you wear your dream shoes?
I envision myself wearing my dream shoe walking in the Jardin des Tuileries while the song “Time Of The Season” by the Zombies is echoing from a nearby cafe.
